This Day, in the History of the United States of America
In 1964,U.S. Supreme Court issued N.Y. Times v. Sullivan ruling

Terror plot at the Olympics- wonder who’s planning it?? IRA, FARC?

Cartoon Outrage….I wonder which group is so upset? The Buddhist, the Southern Baptist?

America playing nice with the terrorist, Me wishes the terrorist would play by the same rules, but, alas…. they do not (though me finds this interesting- this story is three days old and it is still left on the website- used to be, that is before the surge, new stories from Iraq were posted everyday- seems the surge is working) and never will play nice because they never have. No surprise that some people want us to loose.
War is war and we need to fight!! Arrggg!!

Wow, this guy is old. Last surviving U.S. World War I vet honored by president. What is amazing that he joined up at 15. Now days 15 year olds are playing videogames or watching the MTV

SNL prediction of BO presidency, though me thinks W or Big Dick will be on the other end

Affirmative Action ban heads for ballot in 5 states- Good, it’s way past time (what? 30 years now?), it's fullfilled it’s purpose and because it is unconstitutional

Obama: Inexperience and naïve
American voters for Obama: Ignorant, stupid and naive
Obama, in the past has said that he will remove the troops within a year, his website says 16 months
But, As Samantha Powers, advisor (former advisor) to BO, (now famous for the Hillary’s a monster comment) had this say about the Iraq troop withdrawal:
“He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he’s crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. senator,” she said. “He will rely upon a plan — an operational plan — that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn’t have daily access now, as a result of not being the president.” Reality is quite different than political talk.

Funny: Do a spell check on Obama. he he

The gall of the legislative branch to deny one’s right, will and choice to join the military.

Rice: Barbarous act "has no place among civilized peoples."
“Eeeummmm ...psssttt! Hey Condi, these people are not civilized”

This summer, cries of Global Warming will be heard- the evidence will be heavier than usual snow melt

Remember Global Cooling- apparently Miles O’Brien of CNN doesn’t

Other than the contribution of France’s greatest son, Lafayette, here is the only other reason I can think of to like them. It would be a good reason if our imports of razors to them increased.

As if we needed another reason to abolish the IRS

In a news story just released a few hours ago the IRS is mailing letters to the taxpayers who will be receiving a rebate check thanks to George W's brilliant economic stimulus plan this year. The cost of this postage? $42 million dollars thank you USPS. Why the hell didn't they use that friggin "Forever" stamp??
Did we even try to outsource this to UPS or Fed Ex? Hey you could even email my notification, better yet why do you need to notify me at all? Doesn't it take some of the mystery away whenever you go to the mailbox? It's almost like Christmas whenever I open that thing, what bill did I get today? What lending company wants me to consolidate my loans today? How many more times is Cox going to try to get me to bundle my internet/cable services with their telephone service..it would save me money, never mind the fact that I would be paying MORE than I am now.
If you filed a tax return in 2006, you'll be getting one of these jewels in your box soon. Paid for by the U.S. guvment, as in, me and you, and you, and you over there hiding, oh yeah Uncle Sam sees you too. But wait, this 42 mill DOES NOT include mailings that will be mailed out later which will go to those who did not file tax returns for 2006, but may still be eligible, such as some on Social Security, and some who receive veterans benefits. The point of this mailing (besides wasting tax payer dollars, oh it's ok it's just paper the guvment can print more..gold standard anyone?) is twofold. One is to remind people to file your taxes for 2007(??!!), and the other is to inform people of how the tax rebates work, they want to reduce the confusion that the masses will be experiencing. This is good, can't wait, ya know anytime I see a check in my mailbox I'm confused about what to do with it unless it comes with an instruction manual.
I personally don't think that this stroke of economic brilliance is going to help things much. Give us money, in hopes that we go spend it? I think I remember Mike Huckabee talking about this and actually nailing it on the head (he did that once or twice, but then there was the whole "I'm taking back this country for Jesus" thing, and the report cards that he sent home to parents in Arkansas telling them that their kids were fat, come on Mike a little decorum please, they already know, they're fat too, the only exercise that they get is the race over who can get to that last Twinkie first). Anyway, he questioned whose economy was really benefitting here, if we all run out and buy stuff, say, oh I don't know a big screen Sony television, or a Playstation 3, or some other item manufactured in a foreign country for a foreign company (which pretty much excludes nothing) wouldn't China (or whatever country)ultimately benefit from that?
Besides, aren't we always being chastised for not saving enough? By the way, there is a word that I'm thinking of right now, and it rhymes with hypocrisy, oh wait, I'm sorry I gave it away, the word IS hypocrisy...42 million dollars? To explain what to do with a check? If you don't know what to do with yours email me, I'll give you a forwarding address for that check. It will all be taken care of for you.
If this is just to ridiculous to believe 1) remember this is government 2) remember this is the, so far, fantastically, fiscally responsible George W 3)if all that does not help, then the link is provided below, read (and weep) for yourself.

Downsizer Dispatch

A great quote from today's Downsizer Dispatch sent by Downsize DC:

"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."
-- Aldous Huxley

TMF agrees with Ralph

As a supporter of the Libertarian Party, I would like to see greater access of our ideas in the political landscape. I also feel that the larger debate would benefit from greater access by other small parties. Our choice at the ballot box has been continually limited by the DNC and RNC. In the end, we are left with a choice between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I cannot bring myself to support Senator McCain as my co-blogger has suggested. On election day 2008, I will continue to vote with my conscious for a third-party candidate that does not have a shot at winning. And in case you want to know, I will sleep soundly knowing that I voted for the person best suited for the job of President.

More FBI privacy violations confirmed

I found a disturbing report yesterday on the AP Newswires:

The FBI acknowledged it improperly accessed Americans' telephone records, credit reports and Internet traffic in 2006, the fourth straight year of privacy abuses resulting from investigations aimed at tracking terrorists and spies.

Stupid kids support Obama

I was flipping the tv stations this morning before I left to begin my daily commute into D.C. when I came upon Fox and Friends. I used to watch this show all the time, but I have come to the point where I can't stand to watch very much of it at once due to the sheer banality of it. However, since the local news went to a commercial, and I can't stand to watch commercials, I wound up watching these putzes for a few minutes this morning. Anyway, I went to bed before the final returns came in last night, and can I say way to go Hildabeast!! Of course, the way the delegates fell out Obama has a slight lead, and things are still interesting.
So while I was watching Fox and Friends they went to Frank Luntz (another fat head that I'm getting sick of seeing) and one of his focus groups. This one was a group of "young people" that support Obama. Of course the inevitable question came to them, what legislation has Obama passed/supported that makes you want to support him? It was at this point that I think I felt my eyeballs nearly explode (it's a good think that I don't have glaucoma or else the increase in my already elevated intraocular pressure would have ruptured my orbits, and there would have been vitreous humor all over the place). One "young person" actually started describing a time when Obama made a speech in Chicago, and she was impressed with how APATHETIC he was towards the poor/homeless people!! APATHETIC!! I'm assuming that this idiot meant EMPATHETIC, but I think she was actually PATHETIC. This girl does not even know what apathetic means, no clue. Her voter registration card should have been revoked right there on the spot, immediately, and then she should have been sent to a remedial English class because she obviously did not get it the first time around.
Needless to say, nobody could name anything that Obama has done, oh there was the oblivious comments about how inspiring he is, what a great speaker, blah blah blah. The next idiot, I mean "young person" to speak gave a highly enlightening argument about how it is better that Obama does not have a voting record. What was her brilliant argument, her checkmate, her astute counterpoint? Here it is..ya ready? She informed us that we should consider what the Republicans did to John Kerry because of his voting record. They used it against him!!!!! (gasp, shock and awe!!) Using a politicians voting record against them? Well that's not fair is it? Judging a politician, a servant of the people, by the decisions that they make which impact the lives of the people that they are screwing, I mean serving. So it's better that B. Hussein O. does not have a voting record, that could possibly be used against him, it's to the benefit of the country that we elect somebody president when we don't know where they stand on anything except forced healthcare run by the guvment, because guvment does such a GREAT job of running things, and organizing things, and generally all around !&@$ing things up!
A few weeks ago on another Frank Luntz focus group (this time on Hannity and Colmes) Hannity asked the same question as above, I think this was the first time that I had heard anyone ask a group of O (no not Oprah, calm down she does not have a car to give away)supporters this question. The first three women drew an absolute blank, the fourth one, after stammering for a few seconds said "his experience with the elderly"!!?? After that a guy proudly says "he's a great ORATATOR like Jessie Jackson". I think we have a second spot filled for that remedial English class.
There is one voice in the liberal wilderness that I've come across that is apparently gullible enough to be a lib but not quite gullible enough to fall under O's spell, check out his article here: http://www.beyondchron.org/articles/The_Obama_Craze_Count_Me_Out_5413.html

The Big Night?

Well this could be an interesting night. We may see the further coronation of Obama (who is not a muslim...as far as I know...is that clear yet?) or we may see the Hildabeast come out and throw a significant wrench in things. Right now Real Clear Politics has Obama with 1392 delegates and Hillary with 1279. She has a 7 % point lead in Ohio, and a 2% lead in Texas. If that holds true and she takes both things could really get entertaining here. Texas has 193 delegates and Ohio has 141. She also has a slight lead in the superdelegates as of right now. I think the whole super delegate thing is something that I'll get into in another posting. Obama is ~6170,000 votes ahead in the popular vote, but who knows what tonight will bring. Personally, I want Hill to take both Texas and Ohio, not because of any deep fondness that I have for her, but because I really want to see this thing drag out. My dream for this situation is that Obama wins the popular vote, but Hillary gets more of the electoral college, ..uh I mean the super delegates to swing her way, and she gets the nomination. Should that situation arise would the libs scream about how Hillary had stolen the election, much like many of them still cry about how Bush stole the election? Kind of ironic, huh? The Demos tearing themselves apart like over something like this. This is my hope, this is my dream.

It looks like the media is finally starting to ask Obama "tough questions". He apparently does not have a very good answer to give regarding whether or not someone from his campaign has been on the phone with Canada settling their nerves about what Barack Hussein (whoops I forgot that it's now illegal to use his middle name) Obama has been saying about NAFTA. Apparently, he is just stumping for the people on this topic, don't worry Canada he does not mean anything that he is saying. He stammered a bit about this today, could not give a coherent answer, and then left after answering a few questions (well sort of answering) because he was running late for something. FINALLY, make the guy answer questions of substance. Virtually nobody that supports him can really name anything that he has done, well of course he wants change. But what does that mean??!! Change for a dollar? I'll break that bill for you Barack if you'll just take your socialist wife off the stage. Better yet, keep her on the stage. The more she talks the more insight she gives. Of course we've heard about how for the first time in her life she's proud of her country, how old is she? She has told people to not go onto corporate America, take lower paying jobs that are based on service to your community!! That's good for the economy. Today she said that America is a mean country. After the tsunami in Indonesia, what country provided the most aid, financial and otherwise? Anytime there is a tragedy in the world America is by and large the primary provider of aid. Whether they are our friends or not, sometimes they take our money and then stab us in the back at the first opportunity. Oooh we're are soooo meeeeaaaann!!!

Change is a very vague term. Change can be for the better, but it can be for the worse. I think that the change that either Hussein or Rodham has in mind is going to be detrimental for this country. I'm no fan of McCain, Thompson was my guy, but I don't know if even Fred supported Fred. McCain is the nominee for the Republicans, like it or not, (I don't but..) what it comes down to is do I vote for the person that I disagree with ~100% of the time, or the person that I disagree with ~40-50% of the time (sigh).
