I really like this quote from the Census article -- "The reality is, we have to do the census, we have to do it well it and Congress will need to fund it," I did a quick look at what the census has cost over the past few cycles. Based on data collected in a GAO report, the Census costs seem to double every cycle.
1990 - $3.3B
2000 - $6.5B
2010 - $11B
How does that work out? The population is projected to increase by about 24% by 2010 from the 1990 number. However, the census costs have increased by 233%.
Where does the money go????
